Same sex marriage in Queenstown

Posted on Jan 19, 2014 in Featured, Same Sex Ceremonies

When I was contacted in May last year by Jacinta and Caz regarding their civil union in December, I was very excited. They are a lovely couple who live in Australia who wanted to take their relationship to the next level. Then, on 19 August 2013 same sex marriage became legal in New Zealand and Jacinta and Caz’s plans changed a little. Now they could get married!! It was a day of celebration, love, fun, laughter, commitment and so much more. Today I received this wonderful message, photo and a link to a YouTube film about marriage equality in which I feature… check it out! Thanks Phillipa, We had an amazing time in NZ….you were the perfect celebrant for us and helped make our ceremony very special. We have attached a couple of photos for you and a link to the YouTube film that Lou has posted about marriage equality…….you will notice that you feature in it.  Lots of hugs, Caz and Jacinta...

Marie-Louise and Uan chose the gorgeous Trelawn Place for their wedding ceremony, not only because of it’s spectacular views but also because it overlooks the Shotover River – the same river their home overlooks! I was delighted to be asked to share their special day and a lot of energy went into ensuring every little detail was perfect – and it was! Today I received this lovely message from Marie-Louise – believe me Marie-Louise, the pleasure was all mine! Dear Phillipa, What a magical wedding day we had!! The people, the weather, the celebrant, the food, the music, the ambiance… It all came together in 1 day… OUR DAY! Friends and family complemented us on the personal ceremony so beautifully brought by you! To us it meant so much, as the ceremony was us in every word. We where so blessed to have precious people surrounding us while we made ourselves ‘complete’ with this wedding ceremony. Thank you for your natural charming personality that added to our day with all your help, support and joyful way bringing a ceremony together. We will always look back on this stunning day with so much joy, happiness and love! Thank you ever so much and hope to see you again somewhere in...

The following is an excerpt from a fabulous blog written by Heather Ellis a Christchurch photographer whom I had the good fortune to work with last week: Australian born Nicole went travelling with her friends to Europe one year. She expected to visit a few countries, have a fair few wines, a trolly full of laughs and to just generally enjoy her time travelling. She certainly didn’t expect to bag a sweet Irishman while she was there! … But that she indeed did, and after 8 years together and many trips back to Ireland while now living in Australia. They have come quietly to New Zealand to tie the knot amongst the rich autumn colours  of Arrowtown.   Now check out this stunning photo – they say a photo says a 1000...

The Chapel by the Lake is a favourite of mine and so I was delighted when Sara and Simon asked me to officiate at their ceremony in the chapel. The chapel seats about 60 guests, has wonderful acoustics and is beautiful as you can see in these stunning photos taken by Fredrik Larsson. Doesn’t Sara look radiant? This lovely message from Sara is one of my favourites: Hi Phillipa, I would just like to say a huge thank you for doing such a wonderful job at our wedding on Thursday. i really appreciate all the effort you put into it and it was a pleasure to work with you on our special day. You made our ceremony memorable and a lot of people came up to me after wards and liked the part about  ‘mischief’ in the vows. Thanks again for your time before and on the day, Sara 🙂   Good luck to Sara and Simon on the expected birth of their first child in 8 weeks time – keep me posted please!...

Love is the Reason

Mount Soho is a wonderful location for couples who have a large guest list -and so it was perfect for Matt and Tess’s wedding day in late January this year. With 5 pageboys/girls plus bridesmaids and groomsmen, the giving away by Tess’s father, the best man holding the rings and 2 readers, it certainly was a personalised ceremony – something I always recommend. This fabulous photo was taken by Simon Darby of Wanaka and today I received this lovely message from the delightfully happy married couple.  “Working with Phillipa to design a ceremony that was personal to us as couple couldn’t have been easier.  She had some great ideas for the ceremony and gave us all the guidance we needed but still allowed us the flexibility to make it unique and to put our own personal touch on it.  Thanks for a making it such a special day for us...

One of the most beautiful ceremonies ever!

Posted on Mar 17, 2013 in Featured, Marriage / Wedding Ceremonies, Same Sex Ceremonies

This is a ceremony I will never forget – 2 beautiful women so in love, so happy and so together! And they thanked me! We chose Phillipa as our celebrant for our Queenstown civil ceremony in January. Right from the outset we were happy with our decision. We had great initial conversations on the phone, due to us living in Sydney, and also in person on a pre wedding holiday to NZ.  Phillipa is a great listener, listening to what we thought we wanted from our ceremony and adding valuable ideas and contributions when it probably became clear we had no idea!! Our ceremony was just perfect. We laughed, we cried and we burst with love for each other as we said our customised vows. Phillipa suggested a ring warming ceremony where the guests warm the wedding rings with their love during the ceremony. It was the perfect way to include all of our friends and family in the ceremony. Phillipa helped us to create a beautiful, thoughtful and funny ceremony which was just perfect for us as a couple. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. She was also a star when dealing with our less than obedient families on the day and at the rehearsal ;o)...
