The loving are the daring

Australian couple, Mark and Scott chose Queenstown for their wedding ceremony not only because they had always wanted to marry in snow, mountains and lakes and Queenstown in particular, Jacks Point, had all the elements of their dream destination plus it was close enough for their family and friends to attend, however the main reason was BECAUSE THEY CAN!! They have been together for almost 12 years and their wedding ceremony on Sunday meant a great deal to them, including unconditional love, the commitment to each other through the good bad and the ugly… to formally unite and commit to…

Love is a wonderful gift.

Autumn is my favourite time of the year to marry in the Queenstown area and I am not the only local who thinks this. Adam’s family has lived in this area for a very long time, going way back to the gold mining era and so it was no surprise to me when he and Narae decided to have their wedding at the end of April – when the trees are gold! Today I opened up my emails to find this lovely message from Adam: HI Phillipa, Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for a great ceremony on…

Something old, something new

Thurlby Domain is where one of the first homesteads in the Queenstown area was located, it is now a beautiful ruin set in a park like setting among some historic trees – perfect for weddings all year round. It was a true privilege to be Shane and Alisa’s marriage celebrant just 4 days before Christmas and to meet their closest family and friends. Today I received this lovely message from them, as well as this beautiful photo which brought back some wonderful memories of their wonderful wedding day. Hi Phillipa It’s hard to believe that our wedding was just 4…

A thank you from the heart

To have found a role that I have a passion for, in which I am a part of a couples biggest day of their lives together makes me feel fulfilled and blessed, … and then to receive the following message and photo from Mark and Kathryn just tops everything off, very nicely. Thank you to you both for your very kind words. May you have a long and happy life together, my friends. Dear Phillipa, From the moment I saw Phillipa’s smiling face on her internet site I knew that she was the celebrant I wanted. Some months prior to…

Keeping it simple!

Two and a half weeks before their wedding day, Petya and Max booked me to officiate at their ceremony. Their next question was where shall we marry? I suggested they put Queenstown Gardens as their location on their licence as it is beautiful and the band rotunda offers some protection from the weather. The day before their ceremony, with their 2 best friends, they scouted the gardens until they found this spectacular location at the very tip of the Gardens. So the moral of the story is… be it simple or elaborate, make your wedding day the day you want,…

A thank you message from the heart

Hi there Phillipa Russell and I had a truly wonderful day, and in fact it was wonderful for several days as we enjoyed being with friends and family away from home. We were able to get together over several days and occasions. It was simply perfect. For all my nerves and emotions leading up to the service, I had not been able to utter my words without crying, I was surprised to find that I was incredibly calm and confident throughout the service. I was a very happy and relaxed bride. Phillipa, you are a consummate professional, and a delight…

Love comforteth like sunshine after rain – and rain it did!!

This beautiful testimonial from Amber and Danny was languishing in my inbox and I thought to myself, this is too good to not share, so here it is:   Hi Phillipa, Thank you so much for your lovely email. We had a wonderful day, despite the weather. Queenstown is so beautiful – rain, hail or shine, so we couldn’t go wrong with any plans we had! The ceremony was just perfect – it was so difficult to hold it together, but we managed to do it somehow. You spoke so beautifully & we consider ourselves lucky that Heli-weddings recommended you…

This day we shall remember well…

Marie-Louise and Uan chose the gorgeous Trelawn Place for their wedding ceremony, not only because of it’s spectacular views but also because it overlooks the Shotover River – the same river their home overlooks! I was delighted to be asked to share their special day and a lot of energy went into ensuring every little detail was perfect – and it was! Today I received this lovely message from Marie-Louise – believe me Marie-Louise, the pleasure was all mine! Dear Phillipa, What a magical wedding day we had!! The people, the weather, the celebrant, the food, the music, the ambiance……

My heart has made its mind up

When locals Lauren and Tom asked me to officiate on their special day I was very excited and honoured. It was lovely to meet Laurens family who had travelled from the States and Tom’s from the west coast. I confess to being worried about the pronunciation of many of the Jewish words that were woven into their very special ceremony, but their day was perfect and when you look at these stunning photos you can see their love! Dear Phillipa, I can’t believe its already been two months since our wedding, the time just flies.  Attached are some awesome photos from…

Love is friendship that has caught fire

The Chapel by the Lake is a favourite of mine and so I was delighted when Sara and Simon asked me to officiate at their ceremony in the chapel. The chapel seats about 60 guests, has wonderful acoustics and is beautiful as you can see in these stunning photos taken by Fredrik Larsson. Doesn’t Sara look radiant? This lovely message from Sara is one of my favourites: Hi Phillipa, I would just like to say a huge thank you for doing such a wonderful job at our wedding on Thursday. i really appreciate all the effort you put into…
