One of my favourite restaurants for a wedding is Gantleys as it has beautiful gardens and an historic setting for a special ceremony. This couple chose to have their intimate ceremony in the ‘wine library’ a wonderful choice, especially working well with the wine ceremony, I have previously mentioned.
The following is an excerpt from Gantleys website, as you can see, I am not the only one that believes Gantleys is a fabulous restaurant: On the awards front we are grateful for the success we have had over the years. We won a clean sweep in the regional Montana Food and Wine Challenge, winning Best Food and Wine Match, Best Service, Best Presentation and Overall regional Winner. There were over 70 restaurants in the competition so we are very proud of our team and the effort and dedication that they displayed in winning the award.
We have also won an Award of Excellence from New York’s Wine Spectator every year since 1996, making ours the most awarded wine list in New Zealand .
Our wine list won the highest award of 5 Decanters (5 stars) – one of only 12 restaurants nationwide – in the New Zealand Wine List of the Year Awards.
Gantleys also received a Restaurant of Distinction plaque from The Best of the Best New Zealand.
A New Zealand Restaurant of Distinction acknowledgement is New Zealand ‘s equivalent to the prestigious and highly sought after Michelin Awards in the UK and Europe . The New Zealand Restaurant of Distinction certification programme is administered by Best of the Best yearbook.
Gantleys won the California Stone Fruit Dessert competition both years that it was held in New Zealand .
